SEEDS OF SUCCESS REQUIRE
A NURTURING FAMILY,
AN ABIDING FAITH,
AN UNTIRING FORTITUDE,
AN UNWAVERING FRUGALITY,
TO TURN TRIALS INTO TRIUMPHS.
One Peanut at a Time: One Woman’s Trek of Trials and Triumphs
One Peanut at A Time retraces and eighty-year journey of a young lady, a wife, mother, an educator, and a political activist, who becomes the chief executive officer of her own college prep and international boarding schools. Cleaster Whitehurst-Mims learned from her life as a sharecropper’s daughter in Enterprise Alabama to value land and family. Raised in a unique farm culture, she learned lasting lessons in family and community unity, faith, fortitude, and frugality. These virtues enabled her to overcome barriers with courage, confidence, relentless determination, and a high level of serenity.
This little sharecropper girl grew up and used her work ethic, empathy, and altruism to empower her community by lifting one child at a time out of the dust of despair. As a result, she succeeded and eventually received an award from the President of the United States Bill Clinton for her volunteer service to our nation.
